Glycol pumps for the cooling of inverters in the railway industry

In today's railway industry, ever more powerful electric motors are used that are operated energy-efficiently by using control systems. The inverter for regulating frequency and voltage is one of those control elements. Converting the single-phase alternating current from a power source to the three-phase alternating current required by the motor produces a large amount of heat that must be dissipated. The cooling medium used is either air for applications with low power consumption or water-glycol mixtures for applications with high power consumption and in confined spaces. As the trend is towards high-performance motors in high-speed trains, but also underground trains and trams, cooling water systems are increasingly being used.
