Pressure/vacuum valve tested as a deflagration end-of-life protection device
Pressure/vacuum valve and deflagration end-of-life protection Pressure/vacuum valve tested as a flame arrestor according to DIN EN ISO 16852. Ventilation lines on storage tanks prevent negative and positive pressure during filling, emptying, cleaning, heating, cooling or inerting of the container. Pressure/vacuum valves are used to limit the loss or contamination of the stored medium. The deflagration end protection device with integrated pressure/vacuum valve prevents flame propagation in the event of deflagration of explosive vapor-air or gas-air mixtures of explosion groups IIA1, IIA, IIB1, IIB2, and IIB3 with a standard gap width ≥ 0.65 mm from the outside (atmosphere) to the inside of the storage container (side to be protected).

End fitting / end safety device: Atmospheric explosion
Flame arresters tested according to DIN EN ISO 16852 as deflagration end devices Deflagration protection Flame arrestor tested as a deflagration end device prevents flame propagation in the event of deflagration of explosive vapor-air or gas-air mixtures from the outside (atmosphere) to the inside of the storage container (side to be protected).

Pipe protection against deflagration: Concentric flame arrester
Flame arrestor tested according to DIN EN ISO 16852 as a deflagration tube arrestor Deflagration = explosion in which the flame propagates at subsonic speed. The flame arrestor prevents flame propagation to the side to be protected in the event of deflagration of explosive vapor-air or gas-air mixtures.

Liquid detonation protection: foot valve
Flame arrestor tested according to DIN EN ISO 16852 as a foot valve (liquid detonation end protection). Detonation = explosion in which the flame propagates at supersonic speed. Deflagration = explosion in which the flame propagates at subsonic speed. Flame arresters tested according to DIN EN ISO 16852 as detonation tube arresters prevent flame penetration in the event of deflagration and stable detonation (explosion propagating at supersonic speed) of explosive vapor-air or gas-air mixtures. Liquid detonation protection – in which the liquid product is used to form a liquid template as a flame arrestor.

Liquid detonation safety device / explanation
Detonation: An explosion in which the flame propagates at supersonic speed. Deflagration = explosion in which the flame propagates at subsonic speed. If explosive gas ignites in a container or pipe, a deflagration (explosion) is triggered. When a flame front travels through a pipe, the flame speed increases with the pipe length. Up to a certain pipe length/pipe inner diameter ratio, the flame propagates at subsonic speed. Beyond this length, the flame accelerates from subsonic to supersonic speed. To stop a flame propagation at supersonic speed, flame arresters are required and tested as detonation tube arresters. In liquid detonation protection, the liquid product is used as a flame arrestor. If the supply line to the storage tank is not constantly filled with product, a flammable mixture can accumulate. In the event of ignition, the liquid detonation safety device stops the developing flame at the end of the filling line. The distance between the ignition source and the liquid detonation safety device is unlimited.

Liquid detonation protection: End protection
Flame arrestor tested according to DIN EN ISO 16852 as a liquid detonation end-of-line device. Detonation = explosion in which the flame propagates at supersonic speed. Deflagration = explosion in which the flame propagates at subsonic speed. The flame arrestor prevents flame propagation during deflagration and stable detonation of explosive vapor-air or gas-air mixtures. Liquid detonation protection: The liquid product is used as a flame arrestor.
