AMI-SIL® AS and CAS hot work fabrics are made from a minimum 96% pure amorphous silica cloth and are rated to 1800°F (980°C). The following AMI-SIL AS and CAS hot work fabrics have been tested and rated to the ANSI/FM 4950 Standard which is now required by the NFPA 51B. AS1800G & AS3600 meet USCG164.009 as part of MIL-C-24576SH and meets NFPA 701-1999 Method 2 as well as, MIL-STD-2041D NOTICE 2 AS3600 and CAS4000 are rated as a PAD all others are curtains.

VEXTRA® (SGLV) is a heavy duty, heavy weight fiberglass treated with vermiculite and coated on one side with a silicone rubber compound. It is ideal for both indoor and outdoor hot work applications. The vermiculite coating is inorganic, chemically inert, noncombustible and odorless. AMI’s VEXTRA product is rated at 1000°F and remains stable to 1500°F, however due to the temperature limitation of the silicone coating, VEXTRA (SGLV) is rated to 500°F (260°C).

VEXTRA® (GLV) is a heavy duty, heavy weight, fiberglass fabric coated with vermiculite. These products have been tested and FM approved as a welding curtain. The vermiculite coating acts as an armor—it is inorganic, chemically inert, noncombustible, odorless and provides 50% more protection from direct flame than standard fiberglass. With VEXTRA (GLV) heat travels across the fabric and not through it. AMI’s VEXTRA product is rated at 1000°F and remains stable to 1500°F.

AMI-TUF® (SGLP) or AMI-TUF Plus is a durable, fiberglass cloth with a silicone rubber coating compounded with proprietary mineral pigments. AMI-TUF Plus is rated to 500°F (260°C). This product is FM Approved as a welding curtain for hot work protection. AMI-TUF Plus comes in black.

AMI-GUARD® is AMI’s line of high performance finished hot work products. AMI-GUARD® welding curtains are sewn with PTFE-coated fiberglass thread, FM Approved, and meet the requirements of NFPA 51B. All AMI-GUARD® fabricated welding curtains are available in standard or custom sizes and with or without grommets. If you are buying the product for re-sale, we can provide individualized heat-shrink packaging upon request, at no extra charge. Standard sizes include: 3’ x 3’, 6’ x 6’, 6’ x 8’ and 10’ x 10’. Custom sizes and styles available upon request.

AMI-GUARD® Fire Quilt™ is an FM Approved, ready-to go—’take it to the job site with you,’ quilted hot work curtain, blanket or pad. This flexible, hot work barrier is delivers increased performance over other traditional silicone glass fabrics in hot work environments. It is made from a quilted composite with a fiberglass mat between two layers of fiberglass that has been coated with a specially formulated black silicone compound. Fire Quilt™ is reusable.
